A weather system passing through the region between mid-morning and early evening Thursday could trigger severe weather.
SUNDAY: Partly cloudy skies. A chance of rain showers, primarily in the afternoon. An isolated thunderstorm is also possible. High: 50. SUNDAY NIGHT: Mainly clear skies and cold. A widespread freeze is expected overnight into Monday morning. Low: 27.
Metro Detroit's forecast includes damaging wind gusts, heavy rain and a chance of a tornado on Wednesday.
Officials said there's marginal risk for severe weather across the majority of the region, with a chance of the strong storms in the afternoon and evening.
Looking ahead to the end of the weekend on Sunday, we will see some sunshine throughout the day, but as colder air moves into the region, we will also bring in the chance of a few rain showers through the afternoon and into the early evening hours. High temperatures are expected to run into the upper 40s by the afternoon.
A cold front will bring scattered showers at sunrise Thursday, then stall across Indiana and Ohio before reactivating with heavier rain overnight into Friday across central and southeast Michigan.
